Stanley Brul

Stanley Brul (1964) was trained as Biochemist and graduated "cum laude" in 1986. In 1991 he obtained a PhD in Cell Biology at the medical faculty of the University of Amsterdam. He then did post-doctoral studies in microbiology at Nijmegen University and the Rockefeller University New York. In 1994 Stanley Brul moved to Unilever Research & Development where he was appointed as a scientist studying microbial molecular physiology to the benefit of food preservation. From 1994-2002 he fulfilled at Unilever several scientific and managerial positions. As of 2002 the University of Amsterdam (UvA) appointed him as full professor of Molecular Biology & Microbial Food Safety (MBMFS) at the Swammerdam Institute for Life. Since end 2007 Stanley Brul is director of the biomedical sciences courses at the UvA. He teaches courses in molecular microbiology, physiology and cell biology.
